John G. Olson of South Milwaukee (but grew up in St. Francis), was born to eternal life at the age of 55 on June 9th. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Laura (Sorenson), daughter Ashley (Leo) Lisowski and son Andrew Boknevitz. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Vera Olson and brothers Tom & Ricky. John is also survived by his brothers Gary (Jane) and Jamie (Barbara), sisters Sheila Olson and Gwynneth (Michelle) Hoehn, along with nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.
Although Ashley and Andrew were not his biological children, John raised, taught and loved them with his whole heart. He was proud of them each and everyday.
John drove truck over the road for over 30 years and even owned his own company for 3 years. He was known in the trucking industry as "ICKY". He drove through all 48 continental states coast to coast. He made many friendships through his travels. He was a very hardworking driver in order to make a good living for his family.
John was very passionate about music, not only playing but also singing. He would wake up every morning singing a song. He loved old muscle cars and was trying to restore an 1971 "Z28" Camaro but now will never get the chance to do so. John loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, watching the Green Bay Packers play (and fighting- all in fun- with his son-in-law Leo who is a Minnesota Vikings fan). He also adored his cats, Sassy and Bella.
In honor of our Celebration of John's life, please wear your Harley Davidson clothing, anything trucking related or show your Packer Pride.
Please bring a happy memory to share with everyone, John always wanted to be a stand-up comedian, so if you have a joke to share, please do so.
